Lighthouse Point, FL (PRWEB) September 17, 2013
Debt Management Credit Counseling Corp (DMCC) (http://www.dmcconline.org), a nonprofit organization, announced today its upcoming homebuyer education workshop for the South Florida Hispanic community. The workshop will be held in Boca Raton on Saturday, September 21, 2013, and be conducted in Spanish. Attendees will receive 6 hours of credit towards completion of the homebuyer education required to qualify for various financial assistance programs available to South Florida residents.
The workshop is being offered as part of DMCC’s Homebuyer Education Program, which provides the education required for new homeowners to qualify for down payment and other financial assistance offered by the FHA and many state and local government agencies. The workshop is designed to make the home buying process less complicated and help consumers understand the steps it takes to purchase a home. Various assistance programs will be discussed and attendees will have an opportunity to speak with different professions involved in the home buying process, such as a Realtor and Lender. “DMCC is pleased to provide this homebuyer education workshop to the local Hispanic community,” said Jeremy Montanti, Director of Housing for DMCC. “Developing a realistic budget and getting consumers educated to make the right decision when choosing a mortgage is critical to being a successful homeowner.”
In addition to attending a workshop, participants must obtain 2 hours of one-on-one counseling from DMCC to complete the Homebuyer Education Program requirements. The counseling session may be conducted in the DMCC office or over the telephone, either before or after attending a workshop. DMCC provides this program along with free personal budget counseling, an analysis of the consumer’s credit scores, and other financial education. Assistance with identifying repayment options for student loans is also available. Higher credit scores and lower student loan payments, combined with budgeting, help many consumers qualify for a home mortgage they can afford.
This Spanish language workshop will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at the Patch Reef Park Board Room, 2000 Yamata Road, Boca Raton, FL 33431, from 8:30am to 3:30pm. A fee of $25 is required to attend. Consumers wishing to attend must call (866) 618-3328 in advance to register. Space is limited. The required one-on-one counseling is available at any time via appointment and is free of charge.
