Lighthouse Point, FL (PRWEB) February 12, 2014
Debt Management Credit Counseling Corp (http://www.dmcconline.org), a HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agency (DMCC), announced today that it will be providing a free Foreclosure Prevention Workshop for South Florida homeowners in Miami-Dade County on Saturday, February 15, 2014. The workshop will be held at the St. Thomas University Convocation Hall from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is open to the public. The event is being co-sponsored by Opa-locka Community Development Corporation (http://www.olcdc.org), a 501c3 nonprofit organization located in Opa-locka, Florida (OLCDC). Homeowners attending will learn their options to avoid foreclosure of their home mortgage loan and obtain loan modification assistance from certified housing counselors, if needed. Major mortgage lenders will also be present to meet with their borrowers. Homeowners who are struggling to repay their mortgage are encouraged to attend.
The workshop is designed to educate attendees on their options to avoid foreclosure of their home mortgage loan. Certified housing counselors will review all options to avoid foreclosure with the homeowner and recommend the option that best meets their financial situation. If obtaining a loan modification is a recommended solution that the homeowner desires, DMCC will help the homeowner prepare and submit the required documents to their lender for no charge. “Our goal is to identify all available options for the homeowner to avoid foreclosure”, said Jeremy Montanti, DMCC Housing Director. “Whether they wish to stay in their home or not, we will assist them in implementing the option they choose.” Several major lenders will also be available at the workshop to expedite loan modifications for their borrowers who attend, if desired.
The workshop will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014, in the Convocation Hall at St. Thomas University, 16401 NW 37th Ave, Miami Gardens, FL 33054, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Homeowners may visit at anytime during the workshop, but are encouraged to make an appointment in advance by calling (866) 724-3328. In order for homeowners to maximize the options available to them to avoid foreclosure, it is imperative that they seek assistance as soon as they know they will not be able to meet their mortgage payments. Once a mortgage lender commences foreclosure proceedings, many options cease to be available. Homeowners who have already received a foreclosure notice from their lender with a Date of Sale are recommended to seek legal counsel for assistance. It is anticipated that legal counsel will be available at the workshop for an initial no-charge consultation.
As a HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agency, DMCC receives grant funding from federal and state agencies to provide its services to homeowners for no charge. DMCC is currently approved to provide mortgage delinquency counseling and resolution assistance to homeowners throughout the State of Florida. These free services are available to homeowners statewide and do not require attendance at a workshop or a physical meeting, i.e. all counseling and documents can be provided over the telephone and Internet.
